Guge Kingdom

Post-imperial West Tibetan kingdom founded by a scion of the fragmented Tibetan Empire around Mount Kailash; became a major seat of the Buddhist revival (the 'Second Diffusion') translating and sponsoring Indian Buddhist texts.

Besieged and conquered by neighboring Ladakh in 1630, ending independent Guge rule; briefly reconquered for Tibet's Ganden Phodrang in 1679-80.
