CultureSouth America

Archaeological/ceramic-phase culture of the southwest Ecuadorian coast (Santa Elena Peninsula to southern Manabí), named for its type site; a relatively egalitarian society known for painted drinking-bowl ceramics, growing agricultural sedentism, and trade contacts reaching the highlands.
