Gobir was the Hausa kingdom whose ruler Yunfa's persecution of Usman dan Fodio's Muslim community triggered the Fulani jihad in 1804; Gobir was militarily defeated and Yunfa killed in 1808, its territory absorbed into the Sokoto Caliphate.
