Arab Christian client kingdom of the Byzantine Empire, originating from South Arabian migrants, serving as foederati defending Byzantium's eastern frontier against Bedouin raids and the rival Lakhmid-Sasanian alliance.

Defeated at the Battle of the Yarmuk in 636 CE alongside the Byzantine army; Arab-Muslim forces of the Rashidun Caliphate absorbed the Ghassanid territory by 638 CE, ending the dynasty's formal authority.
