A Neolithic archaeological culture of the Gash river delta region around modern Kassala (eastern Sudan) and adjacent Eritrea, roughly contemporary with early Egypt's Old Kingdom; known chiefly from settlement and cemetery sites along the Gash, it represents an early agropastoral society on the Sudan-Eritrea-Horn of Africa crossroads.
Succeeded locally by the Jebel Mokram Group (c. 1800-800 BC); no continuous political successor state is documented.
