Himalayan kingdom of the upper Ganges built by the Panwar (Parmar) line out of the fifty-two garhs, unified under Ajai Pal in the fourteenth century and ruled from Srinagar on the Alaknanda; it guarded the Badrinath and Kedarnath pilgrim routes until the Gorkha invasion.
Conquered by the Gorkhas, whose invasion ended with the death of Raja Pradhaman Sah near Dehra in January 1804; in 1815 the British kept the eastern half as British Garhwal and restored the west to Sudarshan Sah as Tehri Garhwal, which lasted to 1949.
The atlas holds 4 border frames for Kingdom of Garhwal (Panwar dynasty) — the shape you scrub through changes in 1358 · 1446 · 1515 · 1757.
