KingdomAsia

Rajput dynasty that ruled the Kannauj-Varanasi region of the Ganges-Yamuna Doab from 1089, reaching its height under Govindachandra as a major regional power contesting the Chahamanas of Shakambhari and the Palas.

King Jaichand (Jayachandra) was defeated and killed by the Ghurid general Qutb al-Din Aibak at the Battle of Chandawar in 1194; the dynasty's remaining territory was absorbed into the expanding Ghurid/early Delhi Sultanate domains by 1197.
