Fulani theocratic imamate of the Guinea highlands, one of the first West African jihad states.

The Imamate of Futa Jallon was placed under a nominal French protectorate by treaty in 1881, but the state remained effectively independent until France conquered it at the Battle of Porédaka in 1896; the imamate was dismantled and incorporated into French West Africa (French Guinea) by 1896.
