Funj Sultanate (Sennar)

Islamic sultanate of the Blue Nile that ruled Nubia until the Ottoman-Egyptian conquest.

The last Funj sultan, Badi VII, surrendered without resistance to Ismail Pasha (son of Muhammad Ali of Egypt) on 14 June 1821, ending the Funj Sultanate of Sennar; Egyptian forces occupied the capital the following day.
