First Saudi state, founded by Muhammad bin Saud in alliance with the religious reformer Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, expanding from Najd to control most of the Arabian Peninsula including the Hejaz.
Destroyed in 1818 by an Ottoman-Egyptian expeditionary force under Ibrahim Pasha (the Ottoman-Saudi War), which razed Diriyah.
