KingdomAsia

A major city-state of the Diyala region in central Mesopotamia, Eshnunna produced one of the earliest law codes (Laws of Eshnunna, c. 1930 BCE) and was a key power in the early 2nd millennium before Hammurabi's campaigns eliminated it.

Conquered by Hammurabi of Babylon c. 1762 BCE (Year 31 of his reign) using the strategy of damming and flooding the city; Eshnunna was incorporated into the Old Babylonian Empire and gradually declined into insignificance.
