Transformed into the Kingdom of Saxony on 20 December 1806 when Elector Frederick Augustus III became King Frederick Augustus I after Saxony concluded the Treaty of Poznań with Napoleon and joined the Confederation of the Rhine following the Holy Roman Empire's dissolution.
