An archaeological culture of the Transverse Valleys of Norte Chico in north-central Chile, known chiefly for its distinctive ceramics and among the earliest cultures in the region associated with copper metallurgy; possibly linked to cultures of the Argentine Northwest (notably Candelaria) and to later Mapuche Pitrén ceramics.
Replaced in Chile by the Las Ánimas culture (c. 800-1000 CE), which in turn gave way to the historical Diaguita culture the Spanish encountered in the 16th century.
