Small Predynastic Lower Egyptian settlement culture in the Wadi Hof region near modern Helwan/Cairo, known for undecorated pottery and simple stone tools, occupied through to the start of the Archaic (Early Dynastic) Period.
Occupation continued down to the Archaic Period (c. 3100 BC), overlapping the rise of Naqada III/unification; superseded in the wider Lower Egyptian sequence by the Maadi culture in nearby areas.
Standard synthesis of Egyptian prehistory; places El Omari among the Lower Egyptian Predynastic cultures.
