Duchy of Oldenburg

The small north-German duchy between Weser and Ems, raised from a county in 1774 and tied by dynasty to Denmark and Russia.

A grand duchy from 1815, it kept internal statehood inside the German Empire from 1871 until the 1918 revolution.
