Kingdom of Dʿmt

980 BC – 400 BC
KingdomAfrica

Early Ethio-Sabaean kingdom of the northern highlands, precursor to Aksum.

The Kingdom of Dʿmt (c. 900–400 BCE) declined and dissolved c. 400 BCE under circumstances that remain unclear; it is generally believed to have fragmented into smaller successor states or chiefdoms, eventually giving way to the conditions from which the Kingdom of Aksum emerged several centuries later.
