Easternmost state of Rajputana, held by Jats of the Bamraulia clan who had ruled Gohad since about 1505; in 1806 the British gave Maharaj Rana Kirat Singh the districts of Dholpur, Bari and Rajakhera in exchange for Gohad, which passed to Sindhia.
Acceded to India on 15 August 1947 and merged into the Matsya Union on 18 March 1948, later part of Rajasthan.
