Derbent Khanate

A khanate corresponding to southern Dagestan, centred on the ancient Caspian fortress-city of Derbent, established out of Afsharid Iran after 1747; frequently joined to Quba, and annexed by Russia in 1806.

Annexed by the Russian Empire in 1806 during Tsitsianov's/Bulgakov's Caspian campaign; cession confirmed by the Treaty of Gulistan (1813).
