Danishmendids

1071 – 1178
DynastyAsia

Turkmen dynasty founded by Danishmend Gazi that carved out an emirate in north-central Anatolia (Sivas, Amasya, Malatya, Kayseri) after Manzikert, rivaling the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum for supremacy in Anatolia and repeatedly clashing with the Crusader states and the Byzantine Empire through the 12th century.

Absorbed piecemeal by the Sultanate of Rum under Kilij Arslan II, with the last independent Danishmendid territory (Malatya) annexed in 1178.
