Coyotlatelco culture

650 – 900
CultureNorth America

A red-on-brown ceramic tradition and associated Epiclassic culture that spread across the Basin of Mexico and Toluca Valley as Teotihuacan's central authority collapsed, marking a fragmented, competitive landscape of local centers (later including Tula) contesting power in the valley.

Superseded after c. 900-950 CE by Toltec-era Mazapan-style material culture as Tula rose to regional dominance in the Basin of Mexico.
