Coxcatlan Phase (Tehuacan Valley)

Mid-Archaic phase of Richard MacNeish's Tehuacan Valley sequence, associated with early cultivation of chile peppers and incipient plant domestication on the path toward maize agriculture.

Succeeded by the Abejas phase as plant cultivation, including early maize, intensified through the Late Archaic.
