County of Tripoli

1102 – 1289
Sovereign stateEurope

The last-founded of the four Crusader states, built up around a prolonged siege of the Levantine port of Tripoli begun by Raymond of Saint-Gilles (Raymond IV of Toulouse) and completed by his successors of the Toulousain line.

Survived as a coastal remnant after the loss of Jerusalem in 1187, but fell to the Mamluk Sultan Qalawun in 1289, one of the last Crusader footholds on the Levantine mainland before Acre (1291).
