A rump kingdom created at the Congress of Vienna in personal union with the Russian Tsar, with its own constitution, army, and legislature (Sejm) — the last formally autonomous Polish state before full Russification. Autonomy was effectively ended by the crushing of the November Uprising (1830-31).
Lost its constitution, army, and separate legislature after the November Uprising (Organic Statute of 1832); nominally persisted as a titular 'Kingdom of Poland' under direct Russian administration until the name was phased out in favor of 'Vistula Land' after the 1863 January Uprising, with the last vestiges of separate status removed by the time of Russian withdrawal in 1915.
Covers Congress Poland's constitutional status and its erosion after 1830.
