Coatlinchan (early Acolhua capital)

Chichimec settlement on the eastern shore of Lake Texcoco granted to the Acolhua by the Chichimec ruler Xolotl in the early 13th century; served as the first Acolhua capital before the seat moved to nearby Tetzcoco around 1337.

Superseded as the Acolhua capital by Tetzcoco c. 1337 and reduced to a secondary settlement within the Acolhua/Texcocan domain; continued as a tributary town through the Aztec and Spanish colonial periods.
