850 – 1492
Native nationSouth America

The great desert-coast empire of adobe, ruled from the vast mud-brick city of Chan Chan and second only to the Inca among Andean states.

At its height it held ~1,000 km of the Peruvian coast; around 1470 Túpac Inca Yupanqui cut its mountain canals, forced its surrender and carried the lord Minchançaman to Cusco — absorbing Chimor and its master metalsmiths into the Inca state.
