Early sedentary coastal people of southwestern Chiapas who subsisted primarily on shellfish and fish at five lagoon sites, among Mesoamerica's earliest non-agricultural sedentary communities.

Ceased around 1500 BCE as the Chantuto people's coastal shellmound-based subsistence pattern was replaced by the agricultural Barra and then Mokaya cultural traditions of the Soconusco coast.
