Chandela Dynasty (Chandelas of Jejakabhukti)

Founded by Nannuka c. 831 CE in the Jejakabhukti (Bundelkhand) region, the Chandelas built the temple complex at Khajuraho and became fully sovereign after Pratihara decline.

Power effectively broken by Chahamana and Ghurid invasions around 1200-1203, though a residual Chandela line at Kalinjar persisted in reduced form until Viravarman II's reign ended c. 1315.
