Carangas (Qaranqa)

Aymara herders of the windswept Lauca plateau west of Lake Poopó, masters of vast llama and alpaca flocks and chullpa tomb-towers.

Folded into Cusco's Qullasuyu, then reorganised by Toledo's reducciones into clustered parishes; survived as the Aymara communities of western Oruro, several keeping their pre-Hispanic ayllu names.
