Capulí culture (Nariño culture)

Andean highland culture of southern Colombia's Nariño department and northern Ecuador's Carchi province, known for distinctive black-on-red pottery, anthropomorphic 'coquero' funerary figures, and fine gold sheet-work; preceded the later Piartal and Tuza cultures in the same zone.

Faded into the Pasto-country traditions encountered by the Inca and the Spanish around 1500.
