Sequence of pre-Columbian societies (Ilama, Yotoco, Sonso, Malagana) in the Valle del Cauca of western Colombia, renowned for sophisticated goldwork; geographically and archaeologically distinct from the Quimbaya heartland further north in Quindío/Caldas/Risaralda.
Succeeded in the Calima valley by the Sonso tradition, which lasted to the Spanish conquest.
