Burebasaga Confederacy

The largest of the three traditional Fijian confederacies, centered on the Rewa River delta of southeastern Viti Levu and historically the main rival to the Bau/Kubuna chiefdom.

Dissolved as a sovereign political entity upon British colonial annexation of Fiji on 10 October 1874, when Cakobau, Ma'afu, and senior chiefs signed the Deed of Cession; traditional chiefly structures were retained in ceremonial form under British indirect rule.
