Largest Brittonic tribal confederation of northern Britain, initially a Roman client kingdom under Queen Cartimandua covering much of what became northern England.
Client status ended after Cartimandua's overthrow by her ex-husband Venutius (69 CE) prompted direct Roman military conquest; final revolts suppressed by c. 155 CE and the territory fully incorporated into Roman Britannia.
