Kingdom of Spain (Bourbon era)

1700 – 1873
KingdomEurope

The Bourbon-dynasty Kingdom of Spain from Philip V's accession through the centralizing Nueva Planta decrees (1707-1716), 18th-century enlightened absolutism under Charles III, and the turbulent 19th century (Peninsular War exile aside) of constitutional crises, the Trienio Liberal, Carlist wars, and Isabella II's reign, down to the 1868 Glorious Revolution and the Sexenio Democratico.

The Sexenio Democratico's brief constitutional monarchy under Amadeo I collapsed when he abdicated on 11 February 1873; the Cortes proclaimed the First Spanish Republic the same day.
