1825 Bolivia founded A congress at Chuquisaca proclaimed Upper Peru independent on 6 August 1825, naming the new republic Bolivia for the Liberator.
1883 Treaty of Ancon Ending the War of the Pacific, the treaty of 20 October 1883 ceded Peru's nitrate province of Tarapaca to Chile and left Bolivia permanently landlocked; Tacna was returned to Peru in 1929.
1903 Treaty of Petropolis annexes Acre After the Acre War, Brazil and Bolivia signed the Treaty of Petropolis on 11 November 1903, transferring the rubber-rich Acre territory to Brazil in exchange for payment and the promise of the Madeira-Mamore Railway.
1932 The Chaco War overruns the foragers The 1932-1935 war between Bolivia and Paraguay sent hundreds of thousands of soldiers and new epidemics across the homelands of the Nivaclé, Ayoreo and Chorote, scattering bands and pushing them into evangelical and Mennonite mission settlements.
