Beylik of Shahrisabz

1760 – 1870
PrincipalityAsia

Semi-independent Uzbek beylik of the Kashkadarya valley, held by the Kenegas clan and ruled from the walled twin cities of Kitab and Shaar; it fought off Bukharan emirs for a century, most famously under Daniyar Atalyk (1811-1836), and never permitted slavery.

Bukhara subdued it in 1856 but it revolted in 1860 under the Kenegas beks Jura and Hakim; Russian forces took the beylik in 1870 and handed it to the Emir of Bukhara, ending its independence.
