A Turkish Anatolian beylik of Oghuz/Salur origin centered on south-central Anatolia around Karaman; the longest-lived and most persistent rival to the rising Ottomans, it briefly held Konya, the old Seljuk capital, and remained a major regional power through most of the 14th century.
Finally conquered and absorbed by the Ottoman Empire in 1487 after nearly two centuries of intermittent Ottoman-Karamanid warfare.
