Bermuda (Somers Isles)

1612 – present
ColonyNorth America

England's Atlantic outpost, settled after the 1609 wreck of the Sea Venture and chartered to the Somers Isles Company in 1612 — home to one of the oldest continuous legislatures in the English-speaking world (House of Assembly, seated 1620).

Remained continuously English/British; the last surviving piece of the former 'British North America' after Canadian Confederation (1867) and Newfoundland's shift to Dominion status (1907) — today a self-governing British Overseas Territory (95% 'no' vote on independence, 1995 referendum).
