Baroda State (Gaekwad)

Maratha successor state in Gujarat ruled by the Gaekwad (Gaikwad) dynasty, one of the wealthiest princely states of British India, seated at Baroda (Vadodara).

A 21-gun-salute princely state under British suzerainty; merged into the Dominion of India on 1 May 1949.
