Baku Khanate

A small Caspian-coast khanate controlling the port of Baku and the Absheron peninsula under nominal Iranian suzerainty from 1747; annexed by the Russian Empire in 1806.

Annexed by Russia in 1806 during Tsitsianov's Caspian campaign (Tsitsianov himself was killed at the walls of Baku in February 1806); the loss was confirmed by the Treaty of Gulistan (1813).
