ChiefdomNorth America

A palisaded Middle Mississippian town on the Ohio River near modern Evansville, Indiana, with thirteen earthen mounds and up to 1,000 residents at its peak — the political, cultural, and economic center of the Angel chiefdom, whose influence reached the Green River in Kentucky.

Abandoned by c. 1450, part of the broader wave of Mississippian center dispersals across the Midsouth/Ohio Valley in the 15th century.
