Alwar State (Naruka Kachwaha)

Naruka Rajput state of north-eastern Rajputana, carved out of Jaipur territory by Rao Raja Pratap Singh of Macheri, who took the Alwar fort from its Jat garrison in 1775 and made it his capital; a British protected state from 1803 and the largest of the Matsya-union states at independence.

Acceded to India on 15 August 1947 and merged into the Matsya Union on 18 March 1948, which was absorbed into Rajasthan in 1949.
