Khoja Regime of Altishahr (Afaqi Khojas of Kashgaria)

1680 – 1759
KhanateAsia

Naqshbandi Sufi Khoja dynasty (the Afaqi / White Mountain faction) installed as rulers of the Tarim oases by the Dzungars after their 1680 conquest of Altishahr; theocratic oasis lords who governed Kashgar and Yarkand under Dzungar suzerainty, with a brief bid for independence (1755-1759) crushed by the Qing.

The Qing conquest of Altishahr (1759) ended Khoja rule; the last independent Khojas (Burhan al-Din and Khan Khoja) fled west to Badakhshan and were killed. Later Afaqi Khoja descendants launched repeated revolts against Qing rule into the 19th century.
