Southernmost Christian Nubian kingdom on the Blue Nile, centered on Soba near modern Khartoum.
The Kingdom of Alodia was conquered c. 1504–1505 CE when Funj forces under their founder Amara Dunqas captured and sacked the capital Soba; the Funj Sultanate of Sennar then dominated the region, though it remains debated whether the Funj acted alone or in coalition with Arab groups under Abdallah Jammah.
