Deccan sultanate founded by Malik Ahmad Nizam Shah I amid the Bahmani Sultanate's collapse; one of the five major post-Bahmani 'Deccan sultanates' and a persistent rival of Bijapur and the Mughal Empire.

Annexed by the Mughal Empire in 1636 when Aurangzeb, as Mughal viceroy of the Deccan, completed its conquest; the territory was partitioned between the Mughals and Bijapur.
