Achuar

1767 – present
Native nationSouth America

Jivaroan kin of the Shuar settled east in the moriche-palm swamps of the Pastaza and Huasaga, straddling the Ecuador–Peru line and bound by dream-visions sought at dawn over wayus tea.

Stayed beyond mission reach until the 20th century; now ~12,000 across the border, fighting oil and pipeline incursions on the Pastaza and Corrientes through their federations.
