A late Middle Bronze Age archaeological culture found in the valleys of the middle Volga and Kama River, north of the Samara bend and into the southern Ural Mountains, named for the village of Abashevo in Chuvashia. Notable for metallurgical activity and evidence of chariot use in its end phase; traces its origins to the Fatyanovo–Balanovo culture, an eastern offshoot of Corded Ware.
Absorbed the Volosovo culture and played a major role in the development of the Sintashta and Srubnaya cultures; often viewed as pre-/proto-Indo-Iranian-speaking.
