A-Group Culture

Earliest Lower Nubian polity, contemporary with predynastic Egypt and possibly an early monarchy at Qustul.

Destroyed or displaced c. 2900 BCE when pharaohs of Egypt's First Dynasty conquered Lower Nubia, apparently depopulating the region; no archaeological remains of native Lower Nubians survive for the next several centuries until the C-Group settled the area.
